About Me

Hello! My name is Madiha and I believe that the world has potential to become a much better place than what it is today - of course with the help of its citizens who have the voice and power to bring about change. I am a determined young woman who fully intends on using my voice to bring forth this change.

From September 2012 to April 2013, I had one of the most incredible experiences of my life – living and working in Hanoi, Vietnam. Through this life changing experience I faced numerous obstacles, met some amazing people, and learned some profound lessons about myself and life in general. I spent my days working for an NGO called the Centre for Water Resource Conservation and Development (WARECOD) and my evenings either exploring the city or at home with my kind and loving host family. I also had countless opportunities to travel all over Southeast Asia; my travels took me to Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, and all over Vietnam. Each region I visited had such a unique culture and the more I traveled the more I fuelled my desire to one day see the whole world.

Presently, I have just completed my undergraduate degree in environmental studies at the University of Waterloo with 4 concentrations: A major in international development, a minor in geography and environmental management, a certificate in the French language, and a certificate in global experience. I decided on the international development program in high school because I was always driven by my passion to improve the livelihoods for those living in poverty; however as I progressed in university, I began to take more of an interest in environmental studies! One day I aspire to become an environmental lawyer.

I started this blog as a requirement for one of my classes and soon became captivated with blogging, so this is why I am still continuing with it today, long after the class ended! Follow me to learn about my thoughts about the world; I pay a special focus on global development, the environment, and travelling!
